Universal Studios Singapore Star Ride, Battlestar Galactica, Is Closed

Post by Singapore travel agency news

Just only a week after the Universal Studios Singapore (USS) opened on Mar 18, the main rollercoaster ride Battlestar Galactica is now closed indefinitely due to a technical glitch.

Resorts World at Sentosa said in a statement yesterday: “During our daily pre-opening testing this morning prior to opening to the public, we found a technical problem on one of the ride vehicles and we are investigating at the Battlestar Galactica attraction. In keeping with our commitment to employee and guest safety, the ride was immediately closed by Universal Studios Singapore and will not be operating until we determine the cause and solution.”

The ride is expected to be closed for several days or longer in order to conduct a thorough investigation.

“We understand some guests may be disappointed; however, the safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority.”

This will put a major dampener on those travellers who had already planned to visit USS during these few days. But we agree with USS stance on this. Safety has to be the top priority here.

Let us see if USS will do anything to lessen the disappointments. More vouchers perhaps? Or a free ticket to return when the Battlestar Galactica dueling roller coaster is back in action. Yeah!

On a side note, you can now buy tickets to USS on the same day. You don’t have to buy 1 day in advance anymore.

More Duty-Free Liquor Options for Travellers

Reported by Travel Agency Singapore news

Travellers arriving in Singapore from April 1 will have more reasons to cheer, and with more options to “cheers!” with. Singapore Customs will allow an additional one litre of wine or one litre of beer in lieu of one litre of spirits.

Previously, the duty-free allowance is one litre each for spirits, wine and beer. From April 1, travellers have the additional choice of bringing in either more duty free wine or duty free beer to replace the duty free allowance given to spirits.

A traveller has to declare any excess quantities of liquor and pay duty and GST on them.

I’m pretty sure the duty-free liquor shops at Changi Airport and other ports will stand to gain from this relaxation of the rules.

Well, this is good news for wine lovers or beer drinkers. I’ll drink to that! Cheers!

Universal Studios Singapore Rides Open Today

Singapore 18 March 8.28am. That is the time when the rides in Universal Studios Singapore (USS) opened officially to the eagerly waiting public. It is a soft opening. What this means is that visitor numbers are limited to smaller numbers per day and some of the rides are expected to be closed temporarily for creative adjustments.

To make up for any glitches, USS visitors will receive $15 in shopping and dining rebates with their entry tickets at the gate during the soft opening period. How long will this soft opening period last? According to USS, as long as it’s necessary.

The press had a field day at the preview 2 days ago. What did they think of USS? Mostly positive and many were excited by the thrills the rides brought.

Congratulations USS! I’ll definitely make a visit, but not so soon.
