Travel Agents Frustrated By Resorts World Sentosa

In Singapore news today: Travel agents are frustrated by the staggered openings of Resorts World Sentosa. Yesterday, RWS announced it would open its casino and theme park on Sunday, but rides and shows would not begin operating till next month.
Travel agents contacted by The Straits Times yesterday said they are becoming increasingly frustrated by what they described as RWS’ ‘fits and starts’ approach to opening.
They say that as a result, they cannot close sales of travel packages: Many of their customers are families who are unwilling to travel to Singapore unless the theme park is fully open.

I’ve been seeing a lot of RWS ads on Singapore TV recently. And I’ve heard from my friends in other countries that they too have seen these ads on their local TV stations. Of course, these ads look very nice, with the Universal Studios included inside. They give the impression that everything is open now. I suppose they are “open”, just that you cannot take any rides. So what’s the point? Looks like RWS is very eager to draw visitors even before USS can fully open.
Singapore Casino Opens On Chinese New Year
Finally, we have a date for the opening of Singapore’s first casino! Resorts World Sentosa casino will open on 14 February 2010 12.18pm. This is a very auspicious hour. Woot! Or should I say: Huat ah!
It will be a soft opening with a private ceremony. The Universal Studios theme park is not ready to open yet. It is scheduled to open next month. But visitors will still be able to get a preview of the theme park in the evenings. For a ticket price of $10, visitors get to be among the first to walk about the park. There won’t be any rides or shows running though. The tickets are rebated by a same—value dining voucher. You can go to the box office at the Universal Studios Singapore front gate to purchase tickets for another day, as there will be no same—day ticket sales available.
Will you be making a trip to the casino to try your luck?
I guess by opening on the first day of the Chinese New Year, the casino is effectively “born” in the year of the tiger. So if the casino is the tiger, what are you?
